Create In Me A Pure Heart

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit with me.--Psalm 51:10

Life is an adventure in which we never know what is going to happen just beyond the turn of the road. But too often our today is filled with regrets over the past. If we could convince ourselves that the limitations of the past need not be carried in to the future, what a happy outlook we would have.

One of the outstanding things that Jesus taught was that the mistakes of yesterday can be canceled, that God's creation is always taking place, being renewed, and, no matter what the experience of yesterday may have been, they can be changed.

Jesus did not seem to think that this change required months and years of strenuous effort on our part. Unlike those around him, he knew that God, and the Divine Spirit, wishes only Good for everyone and everything in the world God creates. Jesus also knew that we are all participants within the Perfect Life of God, and that any moment we can so unify ourselves with the Power of Good and God's indwelling Spirit causing all evil to disappear from our experience like a mist that evaporates into nothing.
